Russian media claim attempted UAV attack on defense plant in Nizhny Novgorod region
On Friday, March 1, Russian media reported an attempted attack by three drones on a defense plant in Nizhny Novgorod region of Russia
This was reported by the Russian propaganda outlet RIA Novosti, as well as the telegram channels SHOT, Mash, and Baza.
It is noted that the drones allegedly tried to attack the Sverdlov defense plant in Dzerzhinsk, Nizhny Novgorod region. According to reports, Russian electronic warfare intercepted 3 drones that were allegedly heading to the plant.
Russian media note that the Sverdlov Defense Plant is one of Russia's largest producers of explosives and key components for warheads for air defense missile systems.
The head of Dzerzhinsk said that three drones were allegedly shot down over the city at night: "There are no casualties or damage, the plants are operating as usual."
Later, the governor of Kursk region, Roman Starovoit, said that three border villages were left without power as a result of the UAV attack.
"As a result of the drone hit from the Ukrainian side, there is no electricity in Sverdlikovo, Daryino and Nikolaevo-Daryino in the Sudzhansky district," he said.
Citing the Defense Ministry, the propaganda outlet RIA Novosti reports that Russian air defense destroyed four drones in total.
"Regular air defense systems destroyed a Ukrainian UAV over the territory of the Belgorod region and three UAVs were intercepted over the territory of the Nizhny Novgorod region," the statement said.
