Russia has increased military spending to at least USD 86.4 billion in 2022 - British intelligence
In 2022, Russia's military spending increased by 9.2% to USD 86.4 billion, which is 4.1% of its GDP
The British Ministry of Defense reported the information on Twitter.
British intelligence notes that on May 25, the Stockholm Peace Research Institute reported that Russia's military spending increased by 9.2% in 2022 to USD 86.4 billion, which is 4.1% of Russia's GDP.
British analysts noted that Russia's real military spending is uncertain due to the increased use of secret budget items, especially since February 2022.
“Russia has only recently resumed publishing headline expenditure breakdowns after suspending this in May 2022. It is almost certain that military spending remains elevated, and this is putting pressure on Russian government finances," the British intelligence concluded.
