Russia can mobilize another million people – German intelligence
Russia can mobilize up to a million soldiers for the war against Ukraine
This was stated by the head of Germany's Federal Intelligence Service (BND) Bruno Kahl, Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland reports.
He reminded that in the fall of 2022, approximately 300 000 people were mobilized, some are still training, and some have already been sent to the battlefield.
"Russia's mobilization potential is a reserve of up to a million people, if the Kremlin deems it necessary," Kahl emphasized.
The head of the German special service believes that Putin is not ready for negotiations. After all, now he wants to make decisions on the battlefield and achieve as many advantages as possible in order to dictate peace on his own terms in the future.
In many aspects, the war turned out to be completely different from what was expected in Moscow, Kyiv and the West, Kahl added.
Initially, Russia believed that they would be able to establish control over the neighboring country with "precise military actions, rather symbolic and demonstrative." However, they failed to do so, and it gave the Ukrainian side a significant advantage, Kahl noted. Only much later did the Russian army use its advantage in numbers, he emphasized.
More and more Russian troops are arriving in Donbas, the Russian army is mainly focused there. According to him, the Ukrainian army, just like before, manages effective defense, but in the long term the success of the Ukrainian side depends on the unwavering support of the West.
