Putin will not announce mobilization in near future - military expert Zgurets
Defense Express analyst Serhiy Zgurets believes that instead of announcing additional mobilization, Russia wants to involve conscripts in the war with Ukraine
He expressed this opinion on the Espreso TV channel.
"Now all the forces that the enemy has are either deployed on the territory of Ukraine or are in limited numbers outside of Ukraine. These forces are not enough to carry out large-scale offensive actions, which the Western press has been reporting again. At the same time, if we are talking about a new wave of mobilization in Russia, it will produce results only in three months. The issue here is not the number of personnel, but the ability to train them," explained Zgurets.
Analyst is convinced that a new wave of mobilization will not be announced in Russia
"I believe that Putin will not announce mobilization in the near future. Because in April, Russia is supposed to start the period of discharge of conscripts who were summoned to service earlier. There are more than 120,000 of them. So, I think that these 120,000 conscripts will stay in the army and will be transferred to the format of mobilized soldiers. However, I want to emphasize that Russia does not have the forces for major offensive actions right now. Therefore, over the next few weeks, we will see the same dynamics of hostilities as now," he added.
