Ukraine is finally gaining technological advantage over Russia
Another technological revolution is emerging in the Russian-Ukrainian war
In the past few months, Ukrainians have shot down nearly as many Russian reconnaissance drones as they did in all previous years of the war, and they've spent 100 times less money to achieve these results.
I hope this trend continues, allowing Ukraine to fully close its skies to Russian reconnaissance aircraft. If they do manage to enter, it will only be for a few minutes, at most.
It’s difficult to express just how significant this will be for the war. HIMARS, long-range artillery, helicopter pilots, and fixed-wing pilots stationed at airfields will be able to operate with greater freedom. The relentless hunt by Russian forces armed with Iskanders and S-300s will come to an end. The effectiveness of KABs will diminish considerably, and logistics in the rear will become much safer. Lancets will also be limited in their targeting capabilities beyond a certain range.
The ability to effectively "turn a blind eye" to the adversary will provide a significant advantage in the war. The experience of the Ukrainian military demonstrates that this is a highly achievable goal.
As always, the initiative came from the grassroots. Groups of enthusiasts organized themselves and started shooting down Russian reconnaissance UAVs. They used FPV copters, wings - everything they had at hand. After a while, they got the hang of it.
Now it's time to scale up the best practices.
The Russians are already talking about the end of their technological superiority. Ukraine should be on time.
