Northern Ukrainian regions strengthen air defense before winter
On Tuesday, October 3, the Commander of Ukraine's Joint Forces Serhiy Nayev announced the strengthening of the air defense in the northern regions amid potential Russian strikes on energy infrastructure
He announced this on Facebook.
"In the Northern Operational Zone, together with the heads of regional military administrations, measures are being taken to increase the number of mobile fire groups," Nayev said.
He explained that this is necessary to increase the efficiency of the air defense system.
"To ensure that every citizen of Ukraine feels protected and that our energy infrastructure facilities are ready to operate at full capacity in winter conditions," added the Joint Forces Commander.
On Saturday, September 30, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that work is underway to ensure that Ukraine begins to produce its own air defense systems.
At the same time, the spokesman for the Air Force Command, Yuriy Ihnat, said that September was a record month for the number of Shahed drones used by Russia against Ukraine. The attacks are expected to continue in winter, but there will be less missile attacks.
