Mejlis Chairman calls for expulsion of Russians and collaborators from Crimea
Refat Chubarov, Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, asserts that those who relocated to occupied Crimea did so with the intention of bolstering their presence on Crimean soil, treating it as if it were Russian territory
He made the statement on Espreso TV.
"Two days ago, on August 23, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted a very reasonable and powerful statement on Crimea. And among these positions there is a clause that refers to those who illegally moved to the territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol during the occupation. Namely, that they should be expelled from the peninsula. But then it says that this expulsion will take place on the basis of court decisions that will be made on an individual basis. And here we have a different approach to this issue," the Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people emphasized.
Refat Chubarov added that there were many discussions on this issue with Ukrainian MPs when the draft of this document was being reviewed.
"Many people who now live in Crimea, and among those who were forced to leave the peninsula, will not want to wait a single extra day for the court decision to be considered. No one will open the way for physical violence, but now we will not tolerate those people living next to us. Because knowing that Crimea is stolen land, they still came, bought or built housing there to present our land as if it were part of Russian territory. They made this step consciously, so they must be immediately expelled from Crimea. And we will do everything to make it happen," Chubarov said.
