Kremlin approves new information strategy in its war against Ukraine
Ukraine’s military intelligence highlighted narratives that have been promoted by Russian propaganda media and social networks since August 25
Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate reports that on August 25, 2023, the Russian leader's administration held a meeting on the next stage of the information war in the Ukrainian and global media spaces.
It was determined that in the near future the Russian disinformation system will focus on using such topics and narratives:
- all Ukrainians are being mobilized in Ukraine, even minors;
-
The collective West is "tired and disappointed in Ukraine", and Ukrainian politicians want to surrender territories in exchange for "peace";
-
"the counter-offensive has failed, the losses are huge": the Russians plan to replicate the topic of the deaths of local defenders and manipulate this information in different regions;
-
"the government is corrupt, no one will be held accountable";
-
Kupyansk is being "surrendered";
-
"life is great in the occupied territories, everything is being rebuilt, pensions are high".
The military intelligence warns that based on this, it becomes clear that the Russian forces will now try to provoke internal destabilization in Ukraine, using the information that is circulating in one form or another in the Ukrainian media.
That is, Ukrainians and Europeans need to be more discerning about what to read and what to listen to – the agency says.
