If there is a real threat of Ukraine's defeat, then the Americans will accelerate the provision of F16s, ATACMS missiles and possibly other weapons, such as fire support helicopters or drones of the operational, strategic and tactical level

Valentyn Badrak, Director of the Center for Army, Conversion and Disarmament Studies, military expert, told this on the Espreso TV channel.

According to him, such a scenario is possible. But now, unfortunately, the main burden of the war is on the Ukrainian Defense Forces

"Therefore, in order to win, Ukraine needs to create a situation where we will have 1,000 missiles like Neptune with a range of 1,500 km. Experts who create missiles say it is possible. But instead of interfering with them, it is necessary to remove people from the State Audit Service of Ukraine, in particular from missile issues," the military expert explained.

Summing up Zelenskyy's visit to the United States, Valentyn Badrak noted that the main result was the announcement of joint weapons production.

"The US government is now hesitating and cannot make a decision on strategic support for Ukraine because there is no geopolitical solution to Russia and the destruction of its regime. Ukraine now needs to focus even more on its own missiles and drones, unmanned air, sea and ground-based systems. This is a very powerful element of asymmetric weapons together with the traditions of Ukrainian special forces," added the director of the Center for Army, Conversion and Disarmament Studies.

Ukraine's loss or our victory is interpreted differently in the West, the expert says.

"Our loss, according to Zelenskyy, means that we will not achieve the goal and will not be able to liberate the whole of Ukraine. But this situation is not considered a loss in Washington. There, it would be a normal compromise, even to freeze the war. But when they were providing supplies for the summer and autumn campaign, the emphasis was on the Ukrainian army reaching the sea. At its best, the main goal was to liberate the territories that were seized after 24 February 2022. Other territories were not even considered, and these ideas were openly promoted through Western media and insider channels," Valentyn Badrak summed up.

  • On September 18, Volodymyr Zelenskyy began a visit to the United States. In particular, he took part in the 78th session of the UN General Assembly, addressed the Security Council and held talks in New York with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Romanian President Klaus Iohannis. Zelenskyy also met with the President of Brazil.
  • On Thursday, September 21, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with US President Joe Biden in Washington. Biden announced a new aid package worth $325 million.
  • On September 21, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin in the United States. The main topic of the talks was the continuation of providing Ukraine with the necessary military support to counter Russian aggression, which has already reached $46 billion.
