Center for Countering Disinformation publishes selection of Russian fake news for December 21

According to the Center for Countering Disinformation at Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council, on December 21, the Russians launched three major deceptions. 

Disinformation: “We will not repeat the mistakes of the past, when we destroyed our economy in the interest of increasing defense capabilities. We will not engage in the militarization of the country and the militarization of the economy,” Putin said.

Disinformation: A fighter of the Akhmat group A. Alaudinov reported that in the Bakhmut direction of the Donetsk region, the Ukrainian Armed Forces' units are sending signals of a desire to retreat, but the leadership does not allow them to do so: “The enemy sends a signal of a desire to retreat by all means of communication, but the NATO leadership does not allow them to do so.”

Disinformation: Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that “the disintegration of the Russian Federation is the goal of its strategic opponents.”

“Our strategic opponents have the goal of disintegration, weakening, and disuniting our country... In their opinion, the country that poses a threat is too big, so it needs to be shaken a little and fragmented,” Putin said.
