British intelligence explains high mortality of Russian soldiers in war against Ukraine
British intelligence experts believe that the high mortality rate among Russian military personnel in the war in Ukraine is due to inadequate medical assistance. During the full-scale war, on average, Russia loses about 400 soldiers per day
This information was reported by the Ministry of Defense of the United Kingdom.
Analysts have concluded that the influx of military casualties has likely undermined the normal provision of some Russian civilian medical services, especially in border regions near Ukraine. It is possible that many dedicated military hospitals are being reserved for for wounded officers.
As stated in the summary, Russia is almost certainly struggling with a crisis of combat medical provision, after suffering an average of around 400 casualties a day for 17 months.
According to the head of Kalashnikov's combat medicine unit, it is likely that up to 50% of Russian combat losses could have been prevented by providing proper first aid.
“Very slow casualty evacuation, combined with the inappropriate use of the crude in-service Russian combat tourniquet, is reportedly a leading cause of preventable fatalities and amputations," the statement from the Ministry of Defense of the United Kingdom reads.
What is known about Russian losses
In June, British intelligence stated that the Russian army was experiencing its highest losses since March, during the height of the battle for Bahmut.
On July 5, the United Kingdom announced that the Russian army had suffered significant losses in the war with Ukraine, reducing its combat effectiveness to nearly half, which is approximately 2,500 tanks. Ukraine also informed the OSCE that its current losses in the Armed Forces of Ukraine are eight times less than the losses of the Russian occupation army.
In the past 24 hours, on July 9, the Defense Forces conducted one airstrike on Russian personnel concentration area using aviation. However, missile forces and artillery units targeted two areas with enemy personnel, armaments, and military equipment, as well as two artillery positions of the enemy.
As of July 10, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Russia has lost 231,030 soldiers, 4,085 tanks, 7,966 combat armored vehicles, and 4,371 artillery systems in the war in Ukraine.
