Beijing calls on foreign embassies to remove posters in support of Ukraine
China has asked foreign embassies and international organizations located in Beijing to remove posters in support of Ukraine from the facades of their buildings
Kyodo reported the information, citing diplomatic sources.
"Many embassies in Beijing have put up signboards depicting the Ukraine flag and with messages in Chinese and English, such as #StandWithUkraine, to demonstrate their solidarity with the Eastern European country battling a Russian invasion since February last year," the journalists said.
At the same time, China's Foreign Ministry called on embassies and international organizations not to use the outer walls of their buildings for "political propaganda" and to "avoid causing conflicts between states."
This step provoked a negative reaction from diplomats in Europe and other regions, and no one took posters in support of Ukraine down, the outlet writes.
According to the journalists, at least three embassies have huge blue and yellow flags with words of support.
