Ukraine's getting ATACMS will make Russia realize that the game is over – British expert Grant
Glen Grant, a retired British army colonel and renowned military expert, believes that by providing Ukraine with strong and powerful weapons West should deprive Russia of the idea of its possible victory
He spoke about this on Espreso TV.
"ATACMS is a completely different beast in terms of a weapon to everything else that Ukraine has got because it actually means you can start to destroy real things with that, not just make things burn but actually destroy them. And anybody who's seen pictures of the Ministry of Defense in Serbia after the NATO attacks on Serbia will understand what damage weapons like this can actually do. I think that the Biden Administration is just worried completely that this will all overstep the mark and that nuclear weapons will be used," the military expert said.
Glen Grant noted that if Putin was going to use nuclear weapons, he would have already done so, as he had many reasons for doing so. However, he did not dare to do so.
"To my mind, America should give ATACMS because it is giving that sort of weapon to Ukraine that means that Russia understands that the game is finished. All the time they don't get ATACMS, Russia thinks there is a chance if we continue this war, we'll win. They have to be disabused of that thought by actually making Ukraine so strong and powerful that they know they cannot win this war. And at that point they will have to come to the negotiating table. They will not come to the negotiating table whilst America does not give ATACMS to Ukraine. So it's a really important stage in the war," Grant said.
