Shoigu's visit to Minsk is another pressure on Lukashenko - Valery Kalinovsky
Valery Kalinovsky, a journalist for the Radio Liberty Belarusian service, noted that on December 3, Shoigu met with Lukashenko and the Belarusian Defense Minister. This may be a threatening event for further relations between Belarus and Ukraine
He mentioned it on the Espreso channel.
"The visit of Shoigu to Minsk and his meeting with Lukashenko and the Belarusian Defense Minister, with whom he signed an addendum to the 1997 agreement on some cooperation, is quite a threatening event for further relations between Belarus and Ukraine. We cannot definitively say what they signed there and what they agreed on, or why Shoigu had such an urgent weekend visit to Belarus. I do not know what was signed during Shoigu's visit, but we could talk about some 300 km Polonaise missile systems that Russia asked Belarus for or some other weapons. Please note that this document already existed. It has just been amended. So there can be no talk of any participation in aggression because this requires a new document," the journalist of the Belarusian service of Radio Liberty explained.
Valery Kalinovsky noted that all of this could be interpreted as one of the manifestations of the Kremlin's further pressure on Lukashenko so that Belarus intervenes in military events and supports Russian soldiers not only in the rear but also personnel.
"However, there are no direct signs of all this because everything happens behind closed doors. We can only analyze and conclude that the pressure continues, but Belarus resists. Now about 10 thousand Russian military personnel are training at Belarusian training grounds. On the contrary, military equipment has recently been exported from Belarus to Russia. That is, equipment for the Russian army is being repaired here, and Belarus also gives its equipment to Russia. And this is an indicator that the Belarusian army is not preparing, and Lukashenko is trying to continue participating in this aggression only as an accomplice," Kalinovsky commented.
