Captain Dmytro Pletenchuk, a spokesman for the Ukrainian Navy, told Ukrinform.

“We do not ignore the Russian-occupied territory of our Crimea. Of course, they have to spend huge resources to respond to our “attention”. And they are also forced to make every effort to preserve this illegal annexation of Crimea. And in this sense, Ukraine has not abandoned its plans, and we are doing everything possible to implement them,” he said.

Pletenchuk emphasized that the decision to attack the Crimean bridge will be made by the top leadership, but Russia is already forced to make efforts to protect the facility.

“I can only assure you that it is very difficult for the Russians to defend this structure. That is, they are forced to use the maximum possible number of air defense systems around this bridge. They are forced to use other types and branches of the armed forces... including the so-called Rosgvardia, in order to carry out the passage regime, as they call it  counter-terrorism,” the spokesman added.

He emphasized that Russian enemy cannot use the Crimea bridge for military logistics, but for the Russian Federation it is a symbol of imperial policy.

“Even without actually being able to use it to the fullest for the transfer of heavy armored vehicles, fuel tanks, they still cling to it as one of the sacralized symbols of Russian imperial policy,” explained Pletenchuk.

  • On October 14, Russia put two citizens of Ukraine and Georgia on the international wanted list, suspected of allegedly blowing up the Crimean bridge.
