71 clashes occur on Russian-Ukrainian front on Feb. 1: tense situation in Pokrovsk sector

The Ukrainian Armed Forces’ General Staff reported the information as of 4:00 p.m. on February 1.

Border towns and villages continue to suffer from Russian artillery strikes. Today, the settlements of Zaliznyi Mist and Mykolaivka in the Chernihiv region, as well as Khliborob in the Sumy region, came under fire.

Frontline situation

Kupyansk direction: Since the start of the day, Russia has attempted 15 advances toward Ukrainian positions near the settlements of Topoli, Dvorichna, Petropavlivka, Stepova Novosilka, Hlushkivka, Zahryzove, and Lozova. Ukrainian defenders repelled 11 attacks, while four battles are still ongoing.

Lyman direction: The Russian army attacked Ukrainian positions 12 times near Novoiehorivka, Terny, Yampolivka, Kolodiazi, Torske, and toward Novomykhailivka. Four combat engagements are currently ongoing. Russian aviation struck Zelenyi Hai with unguided missiles.

Siversk direction: Defense Forces repelled three enemy attacks near Verkhniokamianske and Bilohorivka, with one battle still ongoing.

Kramatorsk direction: Ukrainian defenders repelled two enemy assaults, while three engagements continue. Russian forces are conducting active operations near Chasiv Yar and Bila Hora.

Toretsk direction: Russia attempted five advances near Toretsk, with two battles still ongoing.

Pokrovsk direction: The invading army remains active, with the Defense Forces repelling 22 attacks of varying intensity. Ukrainian soldiers are fighting off enemy assaults near Zelene Pole, Yelyzavetivka, Promin, Zvirove, Udachne, Uspenivka, Novooleksandrivka, Sribne, and Dachne. Eight combat engagements are still underway.

Novopavlivka direction: Invading Russian troops attempted to break through toward Kostiantynivka but were stopped by Ukrainian defenders.

Huliaipole direction: The aggressor attacked Ukrainian positions near Novosilka but was repelled.

Orikhiv direction: Two battles are ongoing near Shcherbaky and Nesterianka.

Kharkiv and Prydniprovskyi directions: No active enemy operations have been recorded since the beginning of the day.

In the Kursk region, Ukrainian defenders repelled three enemy attacks, with one battle still ongoing. Russia also launched seven airstrikes using nine guided bombs.

Ukrainian forces continue to wear down the enemy along the entire front line and in the rear.
