He said this in an interview with the Russian media outlet mk.ru.
Rogozin explained that the Black Sea Fleet's ships had become targets for Ukrainian unmanned boats, which prompted the change of deployment.
"If we look at the changes in weapon systems and combat methods during the special military operation (the term Russia uses to describe its war against Ukraine - ed.), the Black Sea Fleet serves as a prime example. It was essentially forced to relocate, as our large ships became prime targets for enemy unmanned boats," he said.
This confirms the information that emerged in the autumn of 2023 regarding the relocation of several Black Sea Fleet ships from Russian-occupied Sevastopol to Novorossiysk.
- On September 15, OSINT analyst HI Sutton reported that Russia had withdrawn the Black Sea Fleet from Novorossiysk in anticipation of long-range missile attacks.
