Intelligence shares number of Russian troops in Zaporizhia and Kherson regions
Approximately 152,000 Russian troops are stationed in the temporarily occupied territories of Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions, they are preparing for defense
Andriy Chernyak, a representative of Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence, told RBC-Ukraine about this.
He stated that there is currently no evidence of troop withdrawal in either the Zaporizhzhia or Kherson regions. While there is some movement, such as the removal of certain items, evacuations, and attempted theft, there is no significant withdrawal of combat units taking place.
According to him, the occupiers are taking equipment and medical supplies from Enerhodar, a satellite city of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, in anticipation of active hostilities in the area. However, they are not fleeing; instead, the Russians in the occupied part of the Zaporizhzhia region are fortifying their positions, strengthening existing fortifications, and constructing new ones.
"The enemy realizes that they lack the strength for any further offensive actions. Their sole objective is to hold onto their current positions, with no intention of launching any additional offensives," stated Chernyak.
He further emphasized that a similar situation is observed in the occupied part of the Kherson region. The personnel remain stationed there, actively engaged in building defensive structures and preparing to defend themselves.
