If Lukashenko recognizes occupied territories as part of Russia, West should recognize Tsikhanouskaya as president of Belarus
West should give an ultimatum to the self-proclaimed president of Belarus, Oleksandr Lukashenko, in case of further assistance to Russia in the war against Ukraine.
Pawel Kowal, the member of Polish Sejm, stated this live on air in Espreso studio.
"From a legal point of view, Belarus is responsible for what happened. I think it is necessary to give Lukashenko an ultimatum. If he will recognize Russian-occupied territories of Ukraine or Georgia, or if he will allow Belarus to use the territory for the development of the war, we as the West must recognize Tsikhanouskaya as president of Belarus, recognize her government. Recognize them as members of the anti-Putin coalition", he said.
In Kowal's opinion, it is necessary to use the important fact that Belarusians do not support war like Russians.
"In my opinion, it is necessary to go further. Tsikhanouskaya and her government should take an oath from Belarusian volunteers in Ukraine and say the real army of Belarus is on the side of Ukraine. From my point of view, this should have happened a long time ago. There are some diplomatic illusions about Lukashenko, but I don't have them. He should receive an ultimatum, he should have no other way out", the politician concluded.
