Russia attacks Ukraine, killing and injuring civilians in Dnipro and region, including children

On the night of April 19, the Russian terrorist army attacked Ukraine with Shahed drones and missiles. Dnipro city and region suffered the most. People were wounded and killed, including two children

The Ukrainian Air Force warned of the Shahed drones threat late in the evening. Past 4:40 a.m., it was reported that Russian terrorists had launched missiles.

Aftermath of Dnipropetrovsk region attack: civilians and wounded

The attack on the Dnipropetrovsk region killed 8 people, including two children, and wounded over 20. Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal reported the information.

As of 11:22 a.m., rescuers reported that 7 people, including 2 children, were killed in the attack. Twenty six people were injured, including one child.

Earlier, 9 people were reported dead as a result of the attack on Dnipro city and the region. Later, at 11:42 a.m., the head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, Serhiy Lysak informed that, fortunately, the six-year-old boy was stabilized.

"One of the children, a 6-year-old boy, was in extremely serious condition. However, we managed to bring him to the regional hospital. The doctors did everything they could. The possible and the impossible. They saved him," he wrote and noted that, according to doctors, the child's dynamics are positive.

The large-scale fire in the Dnipro multi-storey building has already been extinguished.

"Of the 16 injured in the city, half are in hospital. All are in moderate condition. People have shrapnel wounds, fractures, bruises, cut wounds. People are very scared. Psychologists are working near the destroyed building," added Lysak.

In Kryvyi Rih, three people are currently known to be wounded. Two of them are in hospital in moderate condition.

An administrative building in Pavlohrad was damaged.

At 10:47 a.m., Serhiy Lysak said that six people were reported dead and six injured in Synelnykove district. About three dozen private houses were damaged. 4 are almost destroyed. There were several fires that have already been extinguished.

At 09:03 , the head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, Serhiy Lysak, confirmed the information about 8 dead. The total number of victims at that time was 25.

Timeline of events

At 5:21 a.m., the head of the Dnipro Regional State Administration, Serhiy Lysak, posted on Telegram about the missile attack on Dnipro city.

"Dnipro is under missile fire. Our sky defenders are working. Stay in safe places until the end of the air alert," Lysak wrote.

Before that, from 5:10 to 5:19 a.m., Suspilne reported a series of explosions in the regional center.

At 6:21 a.m., Lysak reported the death of a woman in Synelnykove district, as well as the destruction of a multi-storey building and injuries in Dnipro as a result of the Russian strike.

"A five-story building is on fire in Dnipro. It is partially destroyed. There may be people under the rubble. At the moment, there are six victims. An infrastructure facility was damaged in Kryvyi Rih. There is also destruction in the Synelnykove district. A woman died there," Lysak wrote.

At 6:56 a.m., Dnipro Mayor Borys Filatov reported 9 injured on Telegram.

"The very center of the city!!! Civilians. There are already nine victims. We are following the information of the Regional Military Administration," Filatov wrote.

At 7:39 a.m., Lysak reported the deaths in Dnipro and the wounded in Synelnykove, including children. According to him, Russia fired 11 missiles at the region, but some of the Russian targets were shot down by the Air Defense Forces.

"In particular, during the morning, preliminary reports indicated 9 missile strikes, with an additional 2 occurring overnight.... Unfortunately, there were hits. One of the enterprises in Pavlohrad was damaged. There are dead and wounded in Synelnykove. There are children among the wounded. One of them is seriously wounded. Four private houses were partially destroyed, 8 more were damaged. In Dnipro, in addition to a residential building, two infrastructure facilities were damaged. In total, there are currently 2 dead and 15 wounded in the city," Lysak wrote.

In addition, in the evening and at night the Russian army fired at the Nikopol district.

"In the evening, the aggressor fired at Nikopol itself with artillery. At night - Marhanets community. Two private houses were damaged," said Lysak.

At 7:53 a.m., Mykola Lukashuk, head of the Dnipro Regional Council, posted on Telegram some details of the strikes on Dnipro city and the region. According to him, in addition to missiles, Russia launched drones at the Dnipropetrovsk region.

"In Dnipro, two people were killed, 15 others were wounded, and several fires broke out. The top 2 floors of a five-story building were partially destroyed. Two infrastructure facilities were damaged. All services are working on the spot - psychologists, rescuers, doctors, cynologists, and utilities. Synelnykove district was also affected. A woman died there. Another woman and a 14-year-old girl were injured. The woman is hospitalized in a serious condition. There was a fire in the house of culture, 8 private houses were damaged, 4 houses were destroyed," Lukashuk wrote.

At 8:04 a.m., Lysak reported a rise in the number of wounded and the death of an 8-year-old child in the hospital.

"The number of victims of the missile attack in the region is constantly increasing. At the moment, we know about 15 wounded in Dnipro. All of them are in moderate condition. Kryvyi Rih - 3 people were injured. The same number in Synelnykove. Among them are 2 children. Unfortunately, one eight-year-old child died in hospital. My condolences to the families and friends," Lysak wrote.

At 8:34 a.m., Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko reported on Telegram that 2 people were killed and 16 wounded in Dnipro, as well as 6 people were killed in the Synelnykove district, including children aged 6 and 8, and two injured.

"In Dnipro, a five-story residential building and civilian infrastructure were damaged. As of now, there are 2 dead and 16 wounded in the city. Thirty people have received psychological assistance. More than a dozen private houses were damaged in the Synelnykove district. Fires broke out and were quickly extinguished by rescuers. Six people died, including children aged 6 and 8. Two more people were injured," Klymenko wrote.

At 9:03 a.m., Serhiy Lysak confirmed the information about 8 dead and added that the total number of injured people was 25.

A railway worker killed in massive attack on civilian infrastructure facilities of Ukrzaliznytsia in Dnipro and region

Ukrzaliznytsia railways reported this information.

As of 11:24 a.m., 7 railroad workers were known to have been injured in the line of duty. In addition, Oksana Storozhenko, a locomotive crew duty officer, was killed. The woman is survived by two sons, aged 17 and 15.

Ukrzaliznytsia added that it will provide assistance to all wounded railroad workers and their families. Their condition is currently stable, and they are receiving the necessary medical and psychological assistance.

Ukrzaliznytsia reported at 8:21 a.m. that Russia had hit infrastructure facilities and that there were wounded among the railroad workers.

"The enemy carried out a targeted massive attack on civilian infrastructure facilities of Ukrzaliznytsia in Dnipro and the region. There are wounded among the railroad workers, they are being provided with medical assistance. Rescuers are working at the damaged facilities, and information about the dead is being clarified. The work of the Dnipro station has been suspended. Long-distance and suburban trains are not currently running to Dnipro station: the temporary final stops are Nyzhnodniprovsk and Horyainove," the agency said.

In addition, some trains will be delayed for arrival in Dnipro.

Aftermath of Odesa region attack

At night, the Russian troops attacked Odesa region with missiles and attack drones. According to the head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, Oleh Kiper, the Russian terrorist attack targeted the critical infrastructure of the region. Fortunately, people were not injured.
