French politician justifies Russia's invasion of Ukraine, claiming 'torture and murder' of Russian speakers
The Center for Countering Disinformation has published a compilation of fake news produced by the global media. Among them is a statement by a French politician who called Russia's invasion of Ukraine "fully justified" because of the alleged "torture and murder" of Russian speakers
The Center for Countering Disinformation shared the information in its compilation.
Disinformation: International law expert and publicist from France Régis de Castelnau said: "After the 2014 coup, the Russian-speaking population of Ukraine was persecuted, tortured and killed. This factor, like many others, fully justifies Russia's actions in 2022 from a legal point of view."
Manipulation: American journalist Michael Tracy wrote on X (formerly Twitter): "In practice, “Stand With Ukraine” has translated to “Enable and facilitate a year and a half’s worth of abominable destruction with no end in sight” Does anyone really need to have the translation of “Stand With Israel” spelled out for them."
Manipulation: The Polish edition of Myśl Polska wrote: "Once again, the interests of those geopolitical forces that pushed Poland to support Ukraine against its own interests are now forcing us to support Israel to our detriment."
