French MFA slams Putin's claims about Zelenskyy's Jewish background
French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna described as anti-Semitic Russian leader Vladimir Putin's statement against Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy
She wrote about this on Twitter.
"Vile innuendos, disparaging remarks, proven anti-Semitism: the statements of the Russian president on September 5 about the Ukrainian president and about Ukraine are outrageous," Colonna said.
Russian leader Putin said that Zelenskyy was "elected by Western curators."
"This makes the whole situation extremely disgusting in that an ethnic Jew is covering up the glorification of Nazism and covering up those who once led the Holocaust in Ukraine, which is the destruction of 1.5 million people," the Russian dictator said.
It is worth noting that this is not the first time Putin has made such statements. For example, in June 2023, he called Zelenskyy "a disgrace to the Jewish people."
In addition, even before the full-scale invasion in 2021, he mentioned Zelenskyy's Jewish background when commenting on the presidential bill recognizing Crimean Tatars, Karaites, and Krymchaks as indigenous peoples of Crimea.
