France prepares to supply Ukraine with up to 12 Caesar self-propelled guns - Le Monde
France may supply Ukraine with a new batch of Caesar self-propelled artillery units, from an order for Denmark
This was reported by the French publication Le Monde.
They note that this delivery may include from 6 to 12 howitzers, out of the 15 previously requested by Kyiv. They are going to be taken from the order for Denmark.
According to preliminary information, the three parties - Denmark, France and Ukraine - are now finalizing technical discussions, as for them this maneuver is the subject of a fundamental political agreement. This became known from the exchange of messages between the President of France Emmanuel Macron, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the Prime Minister of Denmark Mette Frederiksen.
The publication notes that the equipment was previously intended for Denmark. It was them who placed an order for 15 Caesar self-propelled guns back in 2017. In 2019, Denmark additionally ordered four more guns.
"At this stage, Copenhagen would agree more to give up some of this equipment, since it is still in the process of technical verification or even partially does not meet the specifications originally set by the Danes," writes Le Monde.
It is noted that Ukraine, after hesitation, is still ready to restore the materials for these weapons and use them as they are, since it was previously satisfied with the work of the Caesar self-propelled guns.
