China's stance on Ukraine war is not pro-Russian, but anti-American – sinologist Holod
Vita Holod, chair of the board of the Ukrainian Association of Sinologists, believes that the US-China relations deteriorated after the Russian invasion of Ukraine
She shared her opinions with Espreso TV.
"China's stance on the war should be called anti-American. This stance is not pro-Ukrainian, not pro-Russian, but anti-American. The deterioration of US-China relations occurred after the Russian invasion of Ukraine," emphasized Holod.
According to the chair of the board of the Ukrainian Association of Sinologists, the geopolitical situation in the world changed after Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
"At first, China's statements were restrained. Back in March 2022, Xi Jinping said that a war in Europe was not something they wanted to see. And since May 2022, the rhetoric has changed to anti-American. We are already following China becoming more active in the international arena. China wants to position itself as a peaceful country and claims to be a mediator," noted Holod.
