China promises to unveil Ukraine settlement plan in late February
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi says Beijing will present a plan for a political settlement in the Russian war against Ukraine by the end of February
This was reported by DW.
According to Wang Yi, a member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China responsible for foreign policy, Beijing will present a plan for a political settlement in Ukraine by the end of February.
"China will present a document outlining its position on the political settlement of the Ukrainian issue. In the document, we will reiterate the proposals made by Chinese President Xi Jinping, including the need to respect territorial integrity and sovereignty, to abide by the purpose and principles of the UN Charter, to take legitimate security concerns seriously and to support all efforts that promote a peaceful settlement," Wang Yi said during the Munich Security Conference.
He assured that China "stands firmly on the side of peace and dialogue" in the Ukrainian issue.
"We are convinced that this crisis situation can only be resolved through peaceful negotiations," Wang Yi said.
At the same time, he expressed his belief that problems between countries should not be resolved through pressure or unilateral sanctions.
"This is counterproductive, as it leads to endless difficulties," Wang Yi emphasized.
