China has clearly shown it values US's position more than supporting Russia - international expert Kraiev
Oleksandr Kraiev, an expert at the Ukrainian Prism Foreign Policy Council, believes that Blinken managed to convince China that it is not profitable for them to help Russia
He shared his opinions with Espreso TV.
"The key conclusion of Blinken's visit to China is that the parties agreed to disagree. Blinken's task was not to convince China not to do what China is already trying to do. That is, not to supply arms to Russia, not to provoke the situation around Taiwan, not to help the DPRK. Blinken's key role was to clearly communicate the consequences of such decisions," Kraiev explained.
According to the international expert, during his visit to China, Blinken clearly set conditions.
"If China supplies Russia with weapons, spare parts, and resources, there will be no trade and no exchange of technology. And for the Chinese, this is more than 25% of their trade turnover, and for them, this is a strategic issue. For China, American military technology is a matter of modernizing its own army. Blinken managed to show China that it is not profitable for them to help Russia. China has clearly shown that America's position and trade with the Americans is more important to it than supporting Russia," Kraiev emphasized.
