British intelligence finds out why Russia has canceled Immortal Regiment march on May 9
Russia has canceled the Immortal Regiment march on May 9 to avoid possible references to the heavy losses in the war against Ukraine
The British Ministry of Defence reported this on Twitter.
British intelligence notes that on April 18, Russian media announced the cancellation of the Immortal Regiment remembrance marches across the country, allegedly for security reasons.
"In reality, the authorities were highly likely concerned that participants would highlight the scope of recent Russian losses," analysts suggested.
They pointed out that this happened after the Wagner PMC founder Yevgeny Prigozhin publicly questioned whether there were actually "Nazis" in Ukraine, going against Russia's justifications for the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
At the same time, British intelligence stated that the Russian authorities continue attempts to unite the Russian public around polarizing myths about World War II.
