Belarusian army needs to increase troops by 5-6 times to combat in this military campaign

Military expert Roman Svitan says that until at least 2-3 combat-capable corps are formed in Belarus, all threats from the northern border are a psychological operation

He said this on Espreso TV.

“Lukashenko and his occupation regime have a maximum of 15,000 real Belarusian soldiers, that is, it is a little more than a division, you can say that it is a corps. The same corps of Russians, with 15,000 soldiers, left the right bank of the Dnipro River in the Kherson region and was sent to another part of the front. They can only be dangerous if they are involved in a certain narrow part of the front. The corps can be used to break through our defenses in some places. However, if they are able to break through, their further movements will be stopped by flanking strikes. This is perfectly understood by the Ukrainian military command, as well as by the Belarusian troops,” the reserve colonel of Ukraine's Armed Forces emphasized.

Roman Svitan noted that the number of troops the Belarusian army has, cannot carry out any offensive action.

“They need to increase the number of their combat-ready troops by 5-6 times so that they can carry out any of the combat orders that are important in this military campaign. Therefore, I believe that until a general mobilization is announced in Belarus, until at least 2-3 corps capable of carrying out combat tasks are formed, this is a psychological operation to exert some pressure on our military, political leadership and on Ukrainians. To make us feel uncomfortable because of the common border with Belarus of 1000 km, as well as to maintain our military units, which are already deployed along the border in the north. That is, while it is more like PSYOP,” Svitan explained.

  • On November 30, Ukraine's Main Intelligence Directorate stated that they see no signs of the formation of an offensive group in Belarus, but the threat remains.

  • On December 1, the Institute for the Study of War reported that Russian propagandists distorted the statement of the Belarusian Minister of Defense to inflame the situation.
