Belarus and Crimea are inconvenient for Russian forces to attack Ukraine - military expert Svitan
Military expert Roman Svitan believes that the best option for Russian forces is a frontal movement, i.e. from Belgorod or Valuyki, where 7,000 km of Russia will be behind the enemy's rear.
He said this on Espreso TV.
“The Russian forces' offensive is possible only when they conduct one or two waves of mobilization and are able to equip this manpower with the necessary weapons. And they can move only from one direction - the Valuyki district of Belgorod region towards the Kharkiv or Luhansk regions. And the enemy can try to stop our movement with a flank attack. Here everything will depend on the forces and means that our commanders and heads of directions will have,” the reserve colonel of Ukraine's Armed Forces said.
Roman Svitan noted that he no longer sees any other direction from which Russian troops can attack Ukraine.
“Belarus, like Crimea, is a very inconvenient direction for the Russians. Belarus is a balcony to Europe, where the Belarusian borders are squeezed by three European countries. Accordingly, from a military point of view, it is inconvenient for Russian troops to advance from Belarus. Therefore, the optimal movement option is a frontal one, that is, from the same Belgorod or Valuyki, where 7,000 km of Russia will be in the rear of the enemy. Or an offensive from Donetsk, which is also not entirely convenient, because there is an opportunity to cut off the Donetsk group through Luhansk and Taganrog by Ukrainian troops. Accordingly, if any offensive is planned, it will be from the Belgorod district,” Svitan explained.
