Allies coalition to supply Ukraine with €105 million air defense systems
The United Kingdom signed contracts for the supply of air defense systems to Ukraine worth more than £90m
This is stated on the website of the British government.
The British Ministry of Defense, on behalf of the International Fund for Ukraine (IFU), has signed three contracts, with the largest deal worth €65 million signed with the Norwegian defense company Kongsberg.
"These air defense systems have the capability and flexibility to be rapidly deployed to either protect Ukraine’s civilian population and infrastructure, or be put to use on the frontline. The International Fund for Ukraine highlights the unity and resolve of our Allies to work together to provide Ukraine with cutting-edge equipment to meet its capability requirements," said British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace.
The contracts provide for the purchase of vehicle-mounted UAV countermeasures to detect, track, destroy or disrupt the operation of drones.
The CORTEX Typhon system is designed to be operated by two people and is easy to install and carry. The device can work individually or together with other similar devices. It uses various instruments to monitor drones and stop or destroy them.
Two other contracts also provide for the supply of air defense systems, but what exactly Ukraine will receive has not been disclosed.
The International Fund for Ukraine (IFU) has raised more than €901 million from around the world.
