Albania supplies armored vehicles to Ukrainian army
Ukraine's Defense Forces are actively using American-made MaxxPro armored vehicles on the battlefield
According to Defense Express, Oryx portal researchers have revised the list of weapons and military equipment received by Ukraine from Albania.
So far, it included two Mercedes-Benz L508D ambulances, ammunition - 7.62mm rounds for small weapons, and 60mm Type 63 mortar shells. According to the Oryx portal, this list has now been reinforced with 82-mm mortar shells and 22 International M1224 MaxxPro armored vehicles at the same time, making this the first time Albania has delivered armored vehicles to Ukraine.
"How significant this assistance is can be judged by the Military Balance directory, which states that as of 2022, the Albanian army had only 40 such armored vehicles in service," Defense Express writes.
The vehicles were sent to the Albanian army by the US under the Excess Defense Articles program and in accordance with the 2015 US-Albanian agreement. Thus, Albania acquired the first three MaxxPros under the deal in 2017, and a large-scale batch of 37 units was officially handed over two years later, in 2019.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers speak favorably of this armored vehicle, noting its reliability, ease of operation and speed. They are used by the military to perform combat missions directly on the front lines - in assault operations, as well as to evacuate the wounded from the battlefield.
