Ukrainian businessman Rinat Akhmetov files a lawsuit against the Russian Federation demanding compensation for damages caused in 2014-2017 as a result of interference in activities or expropriation of assets in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions occupied by Russia
This was reported by Akhmetov's investment group System Capital Management on Tuesday, April 11.
The assets in question comprise numerous enterprises in the mining, metallurgical, energy, and real estate sectors, including but not limited to:
-
Yenakiyeve Iron and Steel Works
-
DTEK Rovenkyantratsyt
-
DTEK Sverdlovantratsyt
-
Kirsha Training Center
-
Donbas Arena, which cost over $400 million to construct.
Akhmetov's investment group has stated that the compensation received from the Russian Federation will be utilized to revive Ukraine.
"I will be pursuing a lawsuit for complete compensation from the aggressor country for all damages inflicted on us since 2014 in the illegally occupied regions of Donetsk and Luhansk. Justice must be served, and the aggressor must face both financial and criminal consequences. I will utilize the recovered funds to restore and establish new enterprises, generate employment opportunities, and stimulate Ukraine's economy," he declared.
