Xi Jinping calls for early start of peace talks on Ukraine during meeting with Macron

"Xi Jinping greeted Macron on a huge red carpet before Marseillaise (the French national anthem - ed.) was played in Tiananmen Square," the outlet notes.
"I know that I can count on you to bring Russia to its senses and to get everyone to the negotiating table," Macron said to Xi.
In turn, Xi Jinping said that the international community should prevent the escalation of the "crisis in Ukraine."
"The Chinese leader also emphasized that he hopes that peace talks will be resumed as soon as possible and that a political solution and a balanced, effective and sustainable European security scenario can be found," CNN quoted Xi Jinping as saying.
The French leader also wants to discuss with his Chinese counterpart business, climate, biodiversity, and food security.
Earlier, on April 6, Emmanuel Macron and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen arrived in China to meet with Xi Jinping, where they will discuss, among other things, Ukraine.
