World is watching whether it is possible to act like Putin. If force takes over, many local conflicts will start - diplomat Chalyi

Diplomat Valeriy Chalyi said this on Espreso TV. 

“Ukraine's victory is a result that will strengthen the world. It will give politicians the opportunity to pause to find an optimal new global model. So far, this one has been destroyed and the Russian Federation continues to destroy it - no answer can be found either in the Security Council or in other structures. They are looking for something, but very slowly and inefficiently,” he believes.

According to Chalyi, it is necessary to give some kind of pause to diplomacy for the world, and Ukraine's victory will give it.

“If not, then the war will quickly move not only to the territory of the Russian Federation, but it will go further. There may be more active actions by China in its region and conflicts in Europe. Difficult situation between Turkey and Greece, Kosovo and Serbia. Everyone is looking at whether it is possible to act like Putin and impose the right of force from above. As soon as everyone feels that it can be imposed from above without major consequences, the world will plunge into a lot of local regional conflicts,” the diplomat emphasized.

He added that a lot really depends on China - it is looking at Putin's situation and will plan its actions.

“My impression is that China may go (to conflict - ed.) faster than we expect. It is slipping. Xi Jinping may turn to tightening the screws inside the country - creating a tougher model of a police state. Then active actions abroad will become inevitable. The countries of the West now need to invest as much as possible in Ukraine's victory in order to prevent such a development,” Chalyi concluded.
