Why Russia moved missile launchers to Azov Sea? Ukrainian army explains
Natalia Humeniuk, spokesperson of the Southern Ukrainian Defense Forces, noted that Russian missile carriers are hiding in the Azov Sea because they do not feel at ease in the Black Sea and are looking for ways to bypass Ukraine’s air defenses
She told Espreso TV about this.
"An enemy ship grouping of 10 vessels is deployed in the direction of the southeastern coast of Crimea up to Novorossiysk. And this time they have moved the missile launchers to the Sea of Azov. This may indicate that they are hiding in this way because they do not feel safe in the Black Sea. In addition, they are still looking for a way to bypass our air defenses. That's what they tried to do during the last attack on Odesa region," said the head of the Joint Coordination Press Center of the Southern Ukrainian Defense Forces.
Natalia Humeniuk explained that during the latest attack, the Russian army first sent Kalibr missiles to the territory of the temporarily occupied Kherson region to conceal their movement and avoid being destroyed at the start, and then unexpectedly came from inland, closer to the port infrastructure.
"But the Southern Air Defense Forces were in the right positions and did a great job. And the fact that the enemy changed its tactics was taken into account," Humeniuk concluded.
