We are happy if once in few days son writes he is alive - father of Azov Regiment soldier
Yevgeniy Sukharnikov, father of Azov Regiment soldier, parents and relatives of those at Azovstal call on the world for help.
He appealed for help for soldiers in Mariupol on Espreso.
"Communication is very poor. If once in a few days our son writes he's alive, we're extremely happy. The situation there is terrible and unbelievable, this is unseen in the 21st century. Technology is evolving, the information world is getting wider, and we see thousands of people being killed. The whole world sees it. There are several hundred hostages, the people who stay there. They are being killed right now. They are neither on the moon nor on Mars, they are here on this planet. There are 8 billion people who can help. They can help us. We are parents and relatives of those who stay there now, calling on the whole world for help," Sukharnikov said.
Father of the Azov soldier added that there is an evacuation plan. There are solutions, but they lack the authorities' goodwill.
"We have a plan, so-called extraction. There was a precedent in WWII, the famous Dunkirk operation (codenamed operation 'Dynamo' was a military operation of British, French and Belgian forces evacuation, pressed by Nazis Wehrmacht to Atlantic coast during the Dunkirk battle in the northeast France - Ed.), then Hitler, the most despicable man in the world, issued his famous 'stop order' and for a time stopped fighting so the military had the opportunity to evacuate through the Channel to Britain. We call on the world for Dunkirk-2 implemented in Mariupol. Bring world leaders guarantors. It's technically possible, boats can take people to Turkey, some Third world country or Ukrainian-controlled territory," urged Sukharnikov.
