US officially approves first batch of Abrams tanks to be sent to Ukraine
The first batch of Abrams tanks that the US is providing to Ukraine was approved for shipment. The tanks should arrive in Ukraine at the beginning of autumn
According to CNN, this was stated on Monday, August 7, by Army Acquisition Chief Doug Bush.
"Now they have to get to Europe, and then to Ukraine, along with all of the things that go with them. Ammunition, spare parts, fuel equipment, repair facilities. So you know, it's not just the tanks, it's the full package that goes with it. That's still on track," Doug Bush told reporters during a briefing.

The US began training Ukrainians on Abrams tanks in May in Germany. M1 Abrams tanks arrived from the USA, intended purely for training, and not for sending to Ukraine.

In May, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin announced that the United States would deliver Abrams tanks to Ukraine in the early fall of 2023. The Abrams intended for Ukraine (31 tanks) underwent repairs and training for several months. The said tanks were officially approved for transfer this weekend.
