US calls on China to use its special relationship with Russia to stop war in Ukraine
US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen has urged China to use its special relationship with Russia to help stop the war in Ukraine.
AP reported the news.
During a visit to South Korea, Yellen criticized Beijing's economic relationship with Moscow, and urged China to use its special relationship with Russia to persuade it to end its invasion of Ukraine.
"All responsible countries must unite in opposition to this war and work together to end it swiftly. And that’s why the United States and other responsible allies and partners are seeking to reduce Russia’s revenue to wage its war without causing a necessary volatility in global energy markets," Yellen said.
She added that she insists on limiting the prices of Russian oil. The US Treasury Secretary stressed that Russia is now fueling a global food crisis by blocking ports in Ukraine after its invasion of the country caused energy prices to soar.
