UK’s law firm announces lawsuit against Prigozhin and Wagner Group
In the UK, the law firm McCue Jury & Partners filed a lawsuit against PMC Wagner and its founder for terror, murder and rape as methods of war in Ukraine
This is stated in the statement of the law firm McCue Jury & Partners, informs Yevropeyska Pravda.
The lawsuit, filed in the High Court of London, is based on an illegal conspiracy between Prigozhin, the Wagner Group and Putin's military machine to terrorize the Ukrainian people using illegal means.
British lawyers say that according to their data, this is the first time in history that a private military company has been sued for using terrorism and colluding with the rogue state that finances it to wage an illegal war.
They note that the use of the Wagner Group of terrorism to achieve Putin's goals in Ukraine is supported by their war crimes, in particular, torture, murder and rape as a means of waging war to terrorize the civilian population to force them to submit.
The lawsuit of McCue Jury & Partners will first involve a "small group of plaintiffs" of Ukrainian citizens affected by the actions of the Wagner Group. It will be financed by crowdfunding. If it is possible to raise sufficient funds, the compensation in question can reach billions of pounds sterling.
McCue Jury & Partners notes, that the lawsuit can potentially disrupt the work of Prigozhin, Wagner Group and Putin's military machine and provide much-needed compensation in the form of reparations to those who have suffered so severely. There can be no sustainable peace without justice.
The British law firm expects similar trials against Prigozhin and Wagner Group may begin in other countries.
On Tuesday, the lawsuit was announced in the House of Commons, where a senior partner of McCue Jury & Partners, Jason McKew, spoke.
