Ukrainian band Okean Elzy partners with French musicians to release new version of their song and raise money for children affected by war
The song, recorded by Studio d'IKKEN and Okean Elzy, became part of a charity project as the profit from its release will be donated to UNICEF to help children
The members of the band Okean Elzy announced this on their Facebook.
The author's adaptation of the Okean Elzy’s song Vesna (Spring) by the French Studio d'IKKEN became a special joint project of French musicians and UNICEF France. Its purpose is to raise funds for the children of Ukraine who suffered from the Russian invasion.
The original song was presented by the band in late January 2022, a few weeks before the full-scale war. As the Ukrainian musicians tell, in summer French colleagues from Studio d'IKKEN approached them with a proposal to create a new version of the composition. French artists call this project an act of solidarity with the Ukrainian people.
"We paid attention to Okean Elzy's song with the poetic title Vesna (Spring), which mentions the outstanding French artists Apollinaire, Verlaine, Rimbaud. Unfortunately, the spring of 2022, instead of the promise of renewal, brought a full-scale war to Ukraine, which shocked all Europeans, causing widespread solidarity movements across the continent. We joined in too," the musicians of Studio d'IKKEN told.
The artists hope that Vesna-Mirabeau will become an anthem of solidarity with the children of Ukraine and a bridge to help innocent victims of war.
