Ukraine's counteroffensive in Kherson region surprised Russia - UK intelligence
The Ukrainian Armed Forces' counteroffensive in Kherson region was a tactical surprise for the occupying Russian forces
The British Ministry of Defense reported on Twitter.
British intelligence draws attention to the fact that from August 29, 2022, the Armed Forces of Ukraine resumed offensive operations in the South of Ukraine. One of the elements of this offensive is a continuous advance on a wide front west of the Dnipro River, focused on three directions within the Kherson region occupied by Russia.
British intelligence says that the operation had limited immediate objectives, but Ukrainian forces are likely to achieve some tactical surprise by taking advantage of poor logistics, administration and leadership in the Russian armed forces.
"As hostilities also continue in the Donbass and in the Kharkiv direction, a key decision for the Russian command in the coming days will be where to direct any operational reserve which they can create," British intelligence concludes.

On September 3, the Institute for the Study of War reported that the Russians are creating false information narratives to convince that the counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the south of Ukraine has failed.
