Ukraine prepares to host UK PM Liz Truss in Kyiv - Prystayko
Ukraine's Embassy in the UK has started preparing for the visit of the new British Prime Minister Liz Truss to Kyiv.
The Ambassador of Ukraine to Great Britain, Vadym Prystaiko, shared the update live on air for the United TV Marathon (pooled news broadcasts in Ukraine), Ukrinform reports.
"When she formally becomes prime minister, I think we will quickly arrange her visit. As a diplomatic system, we have already started preparing for this conversation and the arrival of Liz Truss in Kyiv," Prystaiko said.
He also called Truss's statement about readiness to use nuclear weapons a "powerful signal for Russia."
"I'm sure it's the right statement, although a rather risky one. Yes, it is not something many peacekeepers around the world want to hear, but she has dotted the i's and has crossed the t’s. Russia got a powerful signal. Liz Truss understands everything perfectly, and our minister Dmytro Kuleba appealed to her with a reminder that Britain is one of those countries that promised to protect Ukraine when we would get rid of nuclear weapons," Prystaiko stated.
