UK intelligence assesses effectiveness of Russian defense positions in occupied territories
Russian forces won't be able to achieve the desired effect from the defensive positions set up in the occupied territories, as they don't have sufficient means of monitoring them.
The UK Ministry of Defence wrote about this on Twitter.
According to UK intelligence, since October, Russian troops have mostly focused on building defensive positions in many areas of the frontline in Ukraine. This includes the installation of additional anti-tank and anti-personnel minefields, which almost certainly goes beyond Russian doctrinal guidance.
“Minefields only present an effective obstacle for trained troops if covered by observation and fire. A major challenge for the Russian forces will likely be a shortage of surveillance assets and trained personnel to effectively monitor large areas of the new minefields,” the UK Ministry of Defence tweeted.

On December 7, UK intelligence found out that the Russian forces were building defensive structures and digging trenches on their territory to create the illusion of a threat of attack for their population.
