UK hopes to deliver Challenger 2 tanks to Ukraine in late March
Britain plans to supply Challenger 2 tanks to Ukraine in late March along with additional artillery support
Reuters reported the information citing a statement by the British Minister of Defense Procurement Alex Chalk.
"The intention is that it will be at the end of March," he told parliament, answering a question about when the tanks would arrive in Ukraine.
According to him, by this time, the Ukrainian military will have undergone intensive training in the operation and maintenance of the tanks. The minister also said that training of Ukrainian tankers in the use and repair of Challenger 2 will begin on January 30.
"We recognise that equipping Ukraine to push Russia out of its territory is as important as equipping them to defend what they already have. Together we will continue supporting Ukraine to move from resisting to expelling Russian forces from Ukrainian soil," he emphasized.
