There are no conditions for unexpected advance of Belarusian and Russian troops from the Belarus border - Zgurets
Serhiy Zgurets, director of the information and consulting company Defense Express, believes that the game of hysteria continues in Belarus with the aim of keeping a significant number of Ukrainian troops on the northern border of Ukraine
He shared his opinion with Espreso.TV live on air.
"For a long time, exercises have been continuing on the territory of Belarus, which were directed to support a certain readiness. Now the situation is changing somewhat, but not critically. Actually, Belarusian army is conscripted and divisions that are in Belarus are currently understaffed, so now we see an attempt to replenish them. There are four divisions in Belarus that, when fully equipped, will have 12,000 personnel, and there are also three more divisions of special operations forces with a total number of about 9,000 soldiers," the military expert explained.
Serhii Zgurets believes that the replenishment period will last at least 3-4 weeks. The process of transferring about 2,000 newly mobilized from Russia to the territory of Belarus is also taking place in parallel. They are currently being loaded in the Nizhny Novgorod region and will arrive on October 20 at two Belarusian test sites.
"The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said that the situation on the border with Belarus is not changing, so far there are five battalions there, each of them with a maximum of 500 soldiers. Therefore, most likely, this is a game of hysteria, which is connected so that we continue to keep a significant number of troops on the northern border of Ukraine. Although in fact the defense line has already been prepared there, and there are no conditions for the unexpected advance of the Belarusian army, even in tandem with Russia. For 2-4 weeks, we must carefully monitor what is happening in Belarus," Zgurets noted.
