Sweden, Finland joining NATO will limit Russia in north - Zgurets

"The joining of Sweden and Finland to NATO is an extremely important contribution to strengthening the Alliance and significantly limiting Russia's ability to act in the North. The potential of Sweden and Finland for the North Atlantic Alliance is quite large - it is full control of the Baltic Sea. Sweden and Finland can block the lines of communication with sufficient power of the Russian army in the North", Zghurets said.

The expert added that the deadline for Finland and Sweden to join NATO is not important, because the US and UK have declared their support in case of aggressive actions by the Russian Federation.

"The timing of Sweden and Finland's joining to NATO is not important, because the US and UK have declared that in the event of aggressive actions by Russia, these countries will be provided with assistance in the form of full-scale support from the Alliance. At the same time, the joining of Sweden and Finland to NATO is the right step on the part of the Alliance to create a joint security belt, which will significantly limit Russia's ability to feel confident in this zone", Serhii Zghurets noted.
