Sooner or later, Russia will use Belarusian troops to attack from north, diplomat Bezsmertnyi says
Diplomat Roman Bezsmertnyi says that Belarusian troops are controlled by the Russian Federation's General Staff, so their involvement in an attack on Ukraine from the north is only a matter of time
In an interview with the Kraina magazine, he noted that this will not be something new, as the invading Russian forces resorted to this technique as early as February 24.
“Belarus Lukashenko is a satellite, and his troops are controlled by the Russian General Staff. In what direction will the Belarusian forces be used? The only option is a northern attack on Ukraine. Sooner or later it will be implemented. They resorted to it as early as February 24. Subversive and intelligence groups that entered the territory of Ukraine, were mostly formed from Belarusian citizens,” he said.
Bezsmertnyi also noted that Russia may not limit itself to attacking Ukraine and encroach on the territory of other states, especially those that are part of NATO.
“For the past few weeks, Russia has been increasing the information pressure that it is fighting against the North Atlantic Alliance. So, if Russia is doing this on Ukrainian territory, why can't it fight on Polish or Baltic territory? At the same time, they are spinning the topic that NATO has weak military potential,” the diplomat said.
Bezsmertnyi also said that Belarus was already preparing to strike Ukraine on October 10, but Ukraine's Armed Forces managed to stop the attack.
“The successes of our anti-aircraft and anti-missile defense, as well as the low efficiency of the missiles and UAVs use - hitting targets was 13-18 percent - destroyed the offensive plan. This is confirmed by the formed grouping that is now maneuvering and the information and psychological attack that was conducted from October 8 to 11. So, Belarus was already ready to enter the war, but our Armed Forces stopped it,” he added.
