Situation in China may turn into civil war - Feygin
China is currently undergoing a transformation from a rigidly authoritarian model with totalitarian elements back to a totalitarian state
Russian opposition activist Mark Feygin said this in a comment on the News Factory YouTube channel.
“China is currently undergoing a transformation from a rigidly authoritarian model with totalitarian elements back to a totalitarian state like under Mao Zedong. And it seems that Xi Jinping has decided to carry out this transformation. The situation will develop in the direction that China will become increasingly coarsened. Taiwan is not the only one of China's territorial problems. China, of course, would like a big expansion. But whether the new state of the economy will allow it is a mystery,” he said.
According to Feygin, China holds the record for the number of civil wars in its history.
“China is the record holder for the number of civil wars in its history. It can end in a civil war, because there are at least two Chinas: China - rich, urbanized, Shanghai, and there is an inner China that has not become like the rest. Let's see how it will end and whether Xi Jinping will be able to maintain unity and high rates of economic development with this new line of Chinese history,” he said.
