Serious threat Russia will again use Belarusian territory to attack Ukraine - General Kryvonos

He said this in an interview with RBC-Ukraine, reports Espreso.West.

"There is a considerable threat of repeated use of the Belarusian territory to attack Ukraine. And this may be an attack by Russian troops, and the involvement in this aggression of the Belarusian armed forces," said Sergiy Kryvonos.

According to him, Russia is now intensively negotiating with the Belarusian political leadership. "Plus, they control the mood in the Belarusian army quite tightly. They now have their own handlers in almost every unit, who clearly monitor the mood. They also conduct additional propaganda to justify their intentions to invade our lands," the general explained.  

He also did not rule out that Belarusian forces may launch an offensive on their own in certain areas. "I think that directly in the Volhynia and Rivne directions, they can do it on their own at the expense of units they have," said Sergiy Kryvonos.

However, according to the general, the issue is that a large enough number of the Belsrusian armed forces are not very willing to participate in this aggression. They have relatives in Ukraine, they go to us on vacation on the Black Sea… Therefore, according to Sergiy Kryvonos, even if there is an order to invade, many Belarusian servicemen are ready to surrender immediately. "Let's hope that in the event of the worst case scenario, the hearts and minds of Belarusians will prevail over Putin's and Lukashenko's wishes to take part in this war," he added.

General Sergiy Kryvonos led the defense of Kramatorsk airfield during the first phase of Russia's 2014 attack. He was one of those who actually created the Special Operations Forces in Ukraine.
