Russia's drills fail to deliver ability to conduct large-scale offensives - UK intelligence
Russia is conducting the Vostok 22 joint strategic drills in hopes of impressing Russian leaders and the international audience
This is reported by British intelligence.
As noted in the report, on September 1, the Russian military began joint strategic exercises "Vostok 22". According to Russia, 50 thousand military personnel will take part in them. However, British intelligence officers are confident that they will attract no more than 15 thousand military personnel - this is about 20% of those who took part in such exercises in 2018.
Intelligence notes that even such military-strategic exercises do not help the Russian army to conduct large-scale operations.
"Russia's military actions in Ukraine have shown that Russian military-strategic exercises such as Vostok have failed to support the military's ability to conduct large - scale, complex operations," the intelligence officers write.
They believe that events like Vostok 22 are aimed only at making an impression on Russian leaders and an international audience.
